Growing up, my mom wasn’t one of those moms that stayed in the kitchen and cooked, per say. Not that i minded, on the contrary i wouldn’t want my mom any other way. Point is, she knew how to make one dish really well, and that dish is beef stroganoff. Say these two words in front of my dad today and he will definitely faint from all those times he had to eat this dish.

Check out the recipe below and be prepared to eat the BEST STROGANOFF ever… Well, at least for me it is 🙂

 

Beef Stroganoff

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 300 g mushrooms wiped and sliced
  • 500 g fillet or faux fillet cut into strips
  • salt and freshly ground pepper
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup white wine OPTIONAL
  • 2 tbsp sour cream
  • 100 ml cooking cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley

Instructions
 

  • Melt butter in a pan, add onions and fry for 5 minutes
  • Add mushrooms, season with salt and black pepper, and fry for another 2-3 minutes
  • Add steak to the pan, season, and fry until pink. Do not over cook
  • Add the mustard and sauté with the other ingredients
  • Add in the white wine and let simmer for a couple of minutes
  • Stir in the sour cream and cooking cream, let simmer gently
  • Sprinkle with parsley and serve with white rice and grated fried potato
